Viking Explorers Visit to Long Island Aquarium to
Pilot Their Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles

The Viking Explorers sailed to the Long Island Aquarium to take part in a very special experience.  North Shore Middle School Teacher Keith Slack said, “The students were allowed to pilot their very own designed and constructed underwater ROV's  (Remotely Operated Vehicles) in an actual aquarium tank!”

Mr. Slack continued, “The ROV's were outfitted with GoPro cameras to film underwater footage of the marine life in a natural habitat.  The cameras were mounted with student designed attachments that have been printed on a 3D printer.”

The Viking Explorers were excited to take part in this adventure as well as explore the aquarium and all it has to offer. The explorers are gearing up for their next expedition to the Fire Island Lighthouse to learn about the rich history and use their ROV's in the Great South Bay!
