Featured Projects

Repave tennis courts at Glen Head School

Description: We refer to this area as the tennis court, but it hasn’t been used as a tennis court since the mid-nineties. This area was utilized as a basketball court and volleyball court during lunch recess. The old surface had several major cracks that could not be repaired. Our insurance company recommended that we repave the surface. The surface will be repaved and lined to serve as a basketball and volleyball court once again.

Renovate Kitchen at the Middle School

Description: With the move to scratch cooking we found that the layout and flow of the exiting Middle school kitchen, left a lot to be desired. The food service staff worked with our architects and engineers to come up with an improved layout for this space. Over the summer of 2013 the old outdated equipment was removed and new equipment was installed. Storage space was expanded and a new walk in refrigerator was installed.

Replace AC Unit in Network Operations Center

Description: The Network operations center is the central hub for our technology infrastructure. This space was cooled by an old AC unit. The old unit is showing its age. If this unit fails our technology hub will shut down. To address this a new roof top HVAC unit will be installed. This unit will provide AC for this space, as well as utilizing fresh air to keep cooing costs down.

Replace main electric gear at the High School

Description: a portion of the main electric gear that services the high school is original equipment from 1957. Infrared scans of this equipment show deterioration that is beyond repair. We will replace this gear with new, to provide reliable electricity to this facility for years to come.

Strip, patch, prime & paint High School Theater ceiling

Description: The High School theater ceiling developed an adhesion issue, causing the many layers of paint to peel. Upon discovering this issue, we tested the surface and enlisted the help of paint professionals to assist us with this problem. This resulted in the district hiring a contractor to remove the layers of paint. Special primer that is compatible with the plaster surface was applied, along with a finish coat of paint.

DW LIPA Lighting Upgrades:
LIPA offered us LED Light bulbs and we accepted! We toured all of our facilities with a LIPA representative and an electrical supply vendor. During this tour we identified many bulbs and fixtures that could be replaced with new efficient LED lighting. After the tour LIPA and our supplier informed us that we could receive close to $40,000 worth of bulbs and fixtures at NO COST TO THE DISTRICT! Our staff is busy installing the bubs and fixtures. The new bulbs last 10-20 years saving labor/money. They also use less electricity saving money.
