Welcome back to school! I hope you have enjoyed your summer, and are ready for another year of learning together. A great deal of time and energy was spent selecting just the right teacher for your son or daughter. We will be mailing the placement packets on August 16, 2012.
Classroom supply lists were sent home in June and can also be found on our website: www.northshoreschools.org .
Our first day of school is September 4th. During the first week of school, Glenwood Landing staff will be available to help all students find their way to their classrooms.
Supervision begins at 8:15 AM each day, and school begins at 8:25 AM. Students are released at 2:40 PM. Please see the enclosed arrival and dismissal procedures for more detail.
If your child needs to be at school before 8:15 AM or after 2:40 PM, you will need to register him or her in advance for the North Shore Before/After School Child Care due to tightened security measures. Families who have not registered and paid the registration fee will not be able to send their child to the program.
Information pertaining to transportation will be mailed directly to your home from the Transportation Department. If you have any questions regarding transportation, please contact Frank Meditz, Supervisor of Transportation at 277-7930.
School lunch will be available in the cafeteria for grades 1-5 beginning on Thursday, September 8th. Kindergarteners will not be able to purchase lunch until September 19th. Menus will be distributed on the first day of school. The cost of daily lunch is $3.00 which includes milk or juice and, if purchased separately, milk is available for $0.60 per container. Checks should be made out to North Shore Schools Lunch Fund (with child’s name and pin number). Please contact the Food Service office at 277-7090 with any questions.
Other Important Information
The SCA has set up a specific fund to help support families so that no student will go without what they need to be successful in school. All requests will be kept confidential. Situations may arise that present financial hardship for families. If you need assistance with school supplies, trip costs, or other school related costs, please contact me directly.
There is much to celebrate at Glenwood Landing School including great parent involvement, student achievement, and teacher dedication. I am thrilled to begin another year with the teachers, parents, students, and community of Glenwood Landing as we continue to move forward to achieve student success.
